Lena Hoplamazian

Title
StudioLab Technician
Bio/Description

Where are you from?
Chicago, IL

Why did you want to work at StudioLab?
I wanted to learn new skills along side other students and help others access StudioLab resources! (Plus I wanted to sew more.)

What’s the most incredible project you’ve ever seen?
ArmBionics, my friends who are making smart prosthetics in Armenia. That, and making trench coats out of camping tents.

Do you have any heroes or mentors?
My mom! She founded a healthcare technology company called NowPow, which connects people to resources in their community to meet their long-term health care needs. She became a tech entrepreneur at 50, and taught me it's never too late to try something new.

What are you working on this semester?
I'm learning some new skills in StudioLab, including 3D Printing, Theatrical Lighting, and hopefully some laser cutting. I'll also be working on lots of sewing! Outside of StudioLab, I'm doing my coursework, working with the Asylum Project, and trying to spend all my time outside before it gets too cold.

What's your favorite part about working at StudioLab?
There are so many things to learn! It's a great place to expand your knowledge and get hands-on work time with lots of fascinating tools.

Where should beginners start at StudioLab?
I'm a beginner in StudioLab, and my strategy is to try something that excites me and teaches me a new skill.
