Building More Inclusive Educational Environments in Physics

On Friday, May 24, Noah Finkelstein *98 gave a talk on “Building more inclusive educational environments in physics: understanding and addressing social-psychological factors to support learning.” He engaged the audience in discussion about the purpose of education, challenges facing institutions of higher education, and his work toward understanding the gender gap in physics classrooms in higher education.

Dr. Finkelstein is professor of physics at the University of Colorado Boulder, and director of the Colorado Center for STEM Learning and the Network of Stem Education Centers. He is an active scholar in STEM education research, with a particular interest in the conditions that promote students' interest and ability in physics, education, and the intersection of these domains.
