Last month, students from Dr. Craig Marshall’s freshman seminar, FRS 129: Visualizing Nature: Techniques in Field Biology, spent almost 3 weeks at the Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia, Kenya. This immersive experience allowed students to apply the skills and knowledge they gained throughout the fall semester to conduct hands-on international fieldwork. Using drones, they studied escape dynamics in zebras and shared their findings with a team of Princeton faculty and staff. The trip also offered a unique opportunity to connect with biologists from around the world, engage with local communities to learn about Kenyan culture, and witness the region's stunning flora and charismatic wildlife in their natural habitat.
