This past summer was a busy one at CST! Our team engaged in a wide variety of activities all aimed at advancing STEM literacy at Princeton and beyond.
StudioLab hosted Open Hours over break and served students from the Freshman Scholars Institute and Summer Village programs. In July, we ran a papercraft workshop where attendees learned to make dinosaurs out of paper.
The CST, with undergraduate research assistant Teodor Grosu '26, hosted a Science Spotlight event highlighting underrepresented scientists. Princeton’s Summer Research Village attendees learned about the vital role of diversity in scientific progress and were invited to nominate influential scientists in their field.
CST professional specialists also put on an Art of Storytelling in Science workshop for students of Princeton’s Summer Research Village. This workshop allowed students the opportunity to convey their current research in a variety of different ways to an audience of their peers.
CST led a science communication workshop through the summer QUEST program hosted by Jessica Monaghan of Teacher Prep and Laure Resplandy and Danielle Schmitt of Geosciences. Middle and high school STEM teachers from New Jersey and beyond participated in this workshop that integrated art and storytelling to convey important information about climate change through the influence of artist Jill Pelto.
Finally, the CST, in collaboration with GradFutures and the Cohen Lab hosted the fourth iteration of Lab Tales, a professional development workshop to help STEM graduate students and postdocs communicate their research using storytelling techniques.
