CST’s Associate Director, Penelope Georges, and Executive Director, Sami Kahn, have co-authored a new article published in Biomedical Engineering Education, titled “Arts Integration in an Undergraduate General Education Course to Improve Engagement in Bioengineering.”
The article explores how combining artistic and scientific perspectives in education can spark creativity, foster critical thinking, and enhance student engagement. Drawing from experiences in the freshman seminar FRS 127 - Body Builders: Living Systems as Art Media, the authors advocate for blending STEAM and sociocultural approaches with traditional STEM instruction.
This publication underscores the value of interdisciplinary teaching and highlights the unique opportunities provided by Princeton’s Freshman Seminar program.
