Event Description

Faculty, staff, and scholars are invited to join our Materials Salon series on September 18, 2024, 3-4:30 PM, featuring lightning talks centered on one material theme, glass, from faculty and scholars across the university. Through this series, we intend to convene a broad group of scholars with shared interdisciplinary interests in this area to gather and exchange ideas across specialties and identify new approaches for research and teaching. Please watch out for an additional salon on glass on November 8, 12-1:30 PM.

  • Glass in 19th-Century American Photography:  Monica Bravo (Assistant Professor of Art and Archeology)
  • Preparing for displays of glass in the new Princeton University Art Museum: Elena Torok (Associate Objects Conservator, PUAM)
  • Low-temperature synthesis of sol-gel glass: Vivian Feng (Assistant Director, Council on Science and Technology)
  • Simulating the look of glass with computer graphics: Adam Finkelstein (Professor of Computer Science)
